Canada's application for eTA is finished?

The grace period of the Canadian eTA has been changed to November 29, 2016. However, if travel is graceful for a grace period or if you plan to travel in Canada in the future, please apply for eTA .
There are cases where immigration review can go smoothly by applying for eTA, so I think that you can travel more securely than unapplied.

※As of 2018, the Canadian eTA has an application obligation.

This is described in the HP of the Canadian government as follows.

 " Visa-exempt foreign nationals need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to or transit through Canada. Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid Canadian visa. Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, and Canadian permanent residents cannot apply for an eTA.  "

Does the application approved within 72 hours?

You can also apply from the airport, but you should avoid applying on the day as much as possible. It is because Canada eTA is hard to think that applications will pass within 72 hours.
The Canadian Government announces 72 hours as usual, but since the individual difference will inevitably arise in the examination, it may exceed 72 hours of official announcement.
Even those who applied once may not have experienced applications that did not go down within 72 hours.
Furthermore, if there is another contact from the government, we need to respond promptly.
For example, if the application does not pass and additional information is required. In this case, since it may exceed 72 hours, please apply after having plenty of time.

■List of eligible countries for Canada eTA

Countries that can apply for Canadian eTA are citizens of about 46 countries.
If it falls within the visa exemption list presented by Canada, it has the right to apply for eTA.
Also, if you have a green card with the same rights as a US citizen exempt from the Canadian eTA, you also have the right to apply for the Canadian eTA.

Before applying for Canada eTA, please note the following

■Who is not allowed to apply?

Dual citizens can not apply for eTA.

At the embassy site it is stated as follows.

Canadians, including those with dual nationality, can not apply for eTA and will need a valid Canadian passport when boarding an aircraft to Canada on November 20, 2016. If you do not have Canada passport this possibility, it may take time to process.

If dual citizens apply for eTA, we must do another procedure.
After applying for the Canadian eTA, the Canadian government will contact you by e-mail to send additional materials to dual citizens.
This procedure must create a GCKEY, MYCIC account (one to register with the Canadian government)

Furthermore, as long as you do not follow this procedure, you will receive the same result no matter how many times you apply, so you must permanently clear this procedure and you will not be able to get eTA permanently.
Also, if there is not any action from the applicant in about 10 days after being asked to upload additional documents from the Canadian Government, please note that the Canadian eTA application will be withdrawn.

■ What should we do if the application is refused?

There are several cases where the application is refused.
For example, those who had overstayed in Canada before, such as traveling to Canada, those who stayed in Canada past due to work visa or student visa, those who repeatedly entered and leave Canada in the past frequently will be eligible.
In this case you must apply for a visa.

When applying for visa, we recommend consulting with an expert or consulting with the embassy.

■ Do you have a criminal record or sickness?

"There is a criminal record in the past and you must issue a police certificate"
"I have a chronic illness and applied for eTA, but there is no application"

In this way, even if submitting the information requested by the Canadian Government, there are also people who do not pass the eTA application.
Even if you re-apply the eTA in this state, the Canadian government will ask for additional information in the same way, so we need to resolve the state of the eTA you applied, rather than re-applying.
